AND THE EXPERIENCE CONTINUES!!! DAY 6

leave a comment »

Its been 6 days since I’ve been wearing my APC Petit Standards non stop. 12-14 hours of breaking in now since my days have increased during the Halloween weekend. These have definitely been my favorite and most adored pair of jeans. This year alone I have owned Naked and Famous, Diesel, Levi’s Capital E, and Levi’s 511, and these are my favorite. These are the only ones that I wear every single day. I love the feeling of breaking this pair in. In the 10+ years of my love for denim, I never just wore one. I always had a couple of them and changed them out daily. I was always worried about ruining the denim and always had different pairs for different shirts and outfits. Now, I just wear these APC’s and don’t even think about my other jeans. I feel bad, because I feel like I didn’t give my other ones a chance to break in properly but now I can’t help it. I am obsessed with these jeans and will continue breaking them in and getting the fades and whiskers that it deserves.

So here we are at day 6. They are at such a great comfort state right now. Still remains stiff, still got the shine, and the waist, thigh’s and knees have definitely loosen up a bit. They feel great, it fits better, and look better. I’m starting to see where they will have cracks and whiskers and I can’t wait. I was a bit nervous this morning when I noticed a bit of tomato sauce at the bottom of my jean on the cuff, but luckily it was on the inside of the jean, and I wiped it right away with some baby wet wipes. I dabbed and gently rubbed. A couple of hours later, it was gone. That was such a relief. At this moment right now, I do not want any stains or chances of them getting dirty. I am enjoying them way too much. I will post pictures on Day 7. Thanks again for reading and following this blog and my experience of breaking in these jeans. This is my own personal experiment since like I mentioned, I never broke in any of my jeans this way. Looking forward to any questions, comments and concerns. If anyone else just got a new pair of jeans, let me know about it. I would love to hear your own experiences with your favorite pair of denim.

APC EXPERIENCE DAY 3

leave a comment »

Today is day 3 of my APC experience. Unfortunately there was nothing exciting to write about today since I was on my butt most of the day. I did however cook breakfast in my jeans and pretty muc was on the road all day with stops for meetings. I feel that today my jeans didn’t get a good chance to really come alive. I did notice the waist starting to get looser and the thighs were getting a bit more comfortable than day 1. I haven’t changed my diet so I know that I am not losing weight and the denim is finally breaking in. The stiffness is still there, and I know there will be A LOT of more breaking in to do.

I have posted some pictures of how the jeans look after 3 days of wear (approximately 28 hours total)

As you can see, the denim in its very beginning stages if any of breaking in. So far, I think that these are my favorite jeans that I have purchased this year.
Again, if anyone who is a denim fanatic like myself wants to document their denim experience, please feel free to join my blog, comment, or shoot me a message.

I also started a twitter account for this blog – so if you like to follow my experience please also follow me @denimatics on twitter.

My APC Experiment

leave a comment »

Today is Oct. 25th 2010.  My first blog post is going to be about my first pair of A.P.C. Petit Standard Jeans.  I have been eyeing a pair of A.P.C.’s for sometime now, and been curious about the fading process that everyone talks about.  I have never really been able to achieve much fading and organic wear and tear with my past jeans due to the fact that I like to keep buying, so none of my jeans really got a fair chance.  This time is going to be different.  I decided that I will do what some of my friends have done, and what many on the net have talked about.  Wear them everyday, don’t wash them, and just continue to break them in.

These Petit Standards are definitely a keeper. They are in my opinion a great slim yet relaxed jean. I know a lot of people said to size down on the jeans since they stretch a lot, but me personally I don’t like them too too tight. I like my jeans to be snug yet not constricting. On every site that I went on, there was no exact measurements which really irritates me. I like to know exactly what I am buying online. From actual waist sizes, thighs, knees, and bottom opening size.

My measured:
Waist:
Thigh:
Knee:
Bottom:

Day One;  I had my wife take a couple of pictures because I want to document the changes that will be taking place over the next couple of weeks.  The goal is 3 months.  I will be updating every 3 days with photos and wear them for approximately 10-12 hours per day.
The APC’s are definitely one of the stiffest jeans to date.  The pairs of denim before this was Naked and Famous Weird Guy, and I thought they were stiff off the rack, but APC’s take the cake.

I encourage anyone and everyone to post their pics if they would like to participate in any denim experiment.  Please feel free to contact me through here or email me at mydenimx@gmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Facing The Addiciton

leave a comment »

Hello everyone, my name is Jay, I am 31 years old and I am a denim addict. My addiction started exactly 10 years ago. My first pair of premium denim was a dark rinsed wash, strait leg pair of Diesel Kratt. Before my purchase, I was used to only wearing Levi’s, Gap, and department store jeans until a friend of mine introduced me to Diesel. Premium denim was just something I never looked into. I remember the day I purchased them, feeling very guilty paying over $140 (tax included) for a pair of jeans. From that day on, I found a whole new world of premium denim. Now 10 years later, and thousands of dollars (I really mean it) later, I am still buying premium denim. I can no longer purchase as much as I would like due to my economic situation (I have a wife and 3 year old daughter that both like to shop.)

I started this blog, because year after year, month after month, I always wanted to do a blog of some sort about my experiences with jeans I have purchased. Some I really like (raw denim) and some I do not. Some worked great for me, and some stayed hanging behind my closet door. I have never been the guy who purchased one pair and wore them for the whole year. I always wanted a variety. I would stay up and spend hours on the internet looking for the perfect denim and jean. In my 10 years, I have had brands such as Levi’s, Gap, Diesel, 7 For Mankind, Citizen’s of Humanity, Stitch’s, AG’s, Nudie’s, Naked and Famous, Levi’s Capital E, and many more. I will not dwell on the past, but only look forward into the future and discuss what is new and upcoming that I find interesting and like.

This blog will not be limited to just denim, but also talk, introduce, and hopefully have people teach me new things about the world of denim and upcoming trends and fashion. I am no expert, just a consumer that really enjoys observing, reading, discussing and purchasing denim and clothes. This blog was ment for others who love denim (men or women) to join in and tell me about your own experiences. I look forward to all of your comments and advice.
